From a New Amazon Food Account to First Sales in Just Days

SellerHelpDesk Case Study | Amazon Marketplace Growth

Launching a new Amazon account in the Food category can be challenging.

Food is a highly competitive marketplace category with established brands, high customer expectations and strong competition for visibility. For a new seller or newly launched account, generating the first few orders can often be one of the biggest challenges.

Recently, SellerHelpDesk started working on a new Amazon Food category account.

The account was started on 16 September, with the objective of building the account from the ground up and generating initial sales.

Within just a few days, the account started showing measurable sales activity.

The Challenge

The account was newly started and had no established sales history.

This creates several challenges:

  • No significant historical sales data
  • Limited account-level performance history
  • New product visibility
  • Strong competition in the Food category
  • Need to generate initial orders
  • Need to understand which products and search terms can generate traction

For a new account, simply listing a product is not enough.

The first objective is to create initial visibility and sales momentum.

Our Strategy

SellerHelpDesk started working on the account with a focus on building the foundation first and then generating sales.

1. Account & Product Setup

We began by reviewing the account and its active products to ensure the basic marketplace setup was ready for selling.

The objective was to make the products properly positioned for the Amazon marketplace.

2. Food Category Optimization

The Food category has its own challenges around product presentation, customer search behaviour and competition.

We focused on improving the overall marketplace readiness of the products instead of relying only on organic traffic.

3. Sales Activation

The key objective was to start generating actual orders as quickly as possible.

The account was actively managed with a focus on creating initial sales activity and identifying opportunities for further growth.

4. Continuous Monitoring

For a new account, every order provides useful information.

We started monitoring:

  • Product sales
  • Units ordered
  • Conversion
  • Order activity
  • Product performance
  • Account-level metrics

This data can then be used to make further marketplace decisions.

The Early Result

The account was started on 16 September.

Within the first several days, the account had already started generating sales.

According to the Amazon Seller Central dashboard shown in the case study, the account recorded:

₹2,987 Ordered Product Sales

15 Units Ordered

12.4% Conversion Rate

The dashboard also showed active order movement and initial product sales during the early stage of the account.

For a newly started Food category account, these numbers represent the beginning of the sales journey, rather than the final target.

Why Early Sales Matter

For a new Amazon account, the first stage is about creating momentum.

The initial orders help provide valuable performance data around:

Impressions → Clicks → Product Visits → Conversion → Orders → Sales

Once enough data is available, the account can be optimized based on actual customer behaviour.

The goal is to move from:

New Account

↓

First Orders

↓

Initial Sales Data

↓

Optimization

↓

Higher Visibility

↓

Consistent Sales

↓

Scale

The Bigger Goal

SellerHelpDesk isn’t approaching this account as a short-term sales campaign.

The objective is to build the account step by step.

The first milestone was to start generating sales.

The next stages involve:

  • Increasing product visibility
  • Improving conversion
  • Identifying high-potential products
  • Optimizing listings
  • Improving keyword targeting
  • Monitoring customer behaviour
  • Scaling successful products
  • Building consistent sales

The long-term objective is to turn a newly launched Food category account into a stable and scalable Amazon business.

A New Food Account. First Sales. The Growth Journey Begins.

Starting from zero is one of the hardest stages of marketplace selling.

This account was launched on 16 September, and within the initial days, SellerHelpDesk had already started generating measurable sales activity.

₹2,987 in ordered product sales
15 units ordered
12.4% conversion rate

These are early-stage numbers, but they demonstrate an important milestone:

The account has started generating real marketplace sales.

Now the focus shifts from simply getting the first orders to building consistent and scalable growth.
